I was lucky enough to get an Arc of the Other GameThis book was G-E-N-U-I-S. Reading Dean's POV was outstanding. J Sterling gave us a great view of Dean Carter. His opinions were so eye opening. His love and admiration for Jack really shined through in this book. I would have thought being Jack's younger brother would have felt like a pain. But not for Dean, he loved his brother with all his heart. When Jack hurt, Dean Hurt. Thanks for another great book

The Other Game A Dean Carter Novel The Game Series Book 4 edition by J Sterling Pam Berehulke Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
*2.5 stars*
I knew this story was supposed to be The Perfect Game rewritten from Dean's pov but I didn't expect for absolutely nothing else to be going on in poor Dean's life. As the little brother of campus baseball god and womanizer, Jack Carter, Dean experienced some minor annoyances - mainly women asking him for introductions to Jack or slipping him their phone number to give to Jack. Dean certainly had no game of his own. He's hung up on Melissa, Cassie's bff, but he's stuck in the friend zone mainly because he's too chicken to make a move.
We experience the angst all over again from Jack's stupid mistake which led to even more stupid decisions. But it was more of a watered down version. I liked reading Dean's pov of Jack's phone call when he confesses what he did. Jack was wrecked and he poured out all of his guilt to Dean.
Otherwise, I thought this pov was a complete miss. Dean wasn't enough of an insider to Jack and Cassie's drama to learn anything new and we learned absolutely nothing about Dean. I know he didn't get the girl until book three but no other girls in the meantime? No other interests? No emotional trauma from his parents' abandonment? Not even any jealousy of his brother? Lots of missed opportunities to make Dean interesting in his own way. Such a shame.
Amazing,Incredible,Fantastic I can go on and on. Jenn Sterling takes us back to this incredible series but what we get is the way the story plays out in Dean's POV and WOW it totally is an eye opening one.
Dean being the younger brother to Jack always has his back but when he meets Cassie everything changes but as there story plays out we see how the relationship between him and Melissa starts and how right from the start Dean is totally smitten.
Not only is Dean there for Jack but you see how much he is there for Cassie as well he considers her a sister right from the beginning knowing Jack needs her just as much as himself, Gran and & Gramps need her in their family.
I loved everything about this series from
Book one but what I have to say is that this book seems to complete the story. If you are a person who loves romance, second chances and everything in between you will not only
Want to read this book but the whole series
Absolutely love the tortured story of Dean. Dean is absolutely nothing like Jack and yet loves his brother to the core! Yes, this is the story from the view of Dean (Jack's younger brother) but the relationship that they have is a Pure Brotherly relationship that every sibling should have. The two brothers are best friends, love one another to the core, and realize how important family is when you have been abandoned by both parents. Dean talks about the changes that Jack goes through after meeting Cassie but also you can see how he secretly has insecurities about love and relationships and being abandoned or hurt which keeps him from trying to get what he wants....Melissa (Cassie's best friend)!
The book is telling the same story from a different perspective and the sequence of events are exactly the same but as I was reading this book it was exactly as it should have been. This story is not about a love story gone wrong (yes it's in there because that was part of the original story) but this book spoke to me about family, loyalty, sacrifice and that made the story worth reading! Absolutely loved Deans point of view!
Before you read this book, you really need to read the first 3 in the series to have a better understanding of what is going on. The whole series is about Jack Carter, his brother Dean and the women in their lives, Cassie and Melissa. The first 3 are about Jack and Cassie. The Other Game is Jack and Cassie's story told from Dean's point of view.
When I read the first 3, I kept thinking Melissa needs to be here and what about Dean. What are his thoughts and feelings. In the series, you get a look into the relationship between Dean and Melissa. Their relationship really comes to a head in the Sweetest Game. In The Other Game, you see a little into the early days of Dean and Melissa and their relationship makes more sense. It's great to read a story that you love from another point of view. If the first 3 books didn't have you falling in love with both Carter boys, the Other Game certainly will.
That steals your heart! This latest installment in J Sterling's Game series gives you another view point of Jack and Cassie's beginning. Dean Carter is still that lovable guy who gets caught up in the drama of Jack and Cassie, while pining away for her best friend, Melissa. I really missed these characters and it's nice to experience it again through Dean's eyes. J Sterling does a great job of conveying the struggle Dean has with supporting his brother and protecting his friend Cassie, who he comes to love as a sister. As is very true in real families, the drama between two people rarely stay contained. This is a story of brotherly love, romantic angst, college life, heartbreak and eventual resolution. Dean is a great guy and a fun character to read as he fumbles his way through college, trying to understand the secret language of women and strives to find direction. This book was realistic and funny- loved the epilogue!!!
