Book reviews, do you read them?Every time I sit down to write a review, I think about what I like to learn from reading a review and the hope that it will spark my interest enough to pick up the book for myself.
A few things come to mind
- is the topic interesting
- why is it a good or bad book in the reviewer’s mind
- is there a deeper meaning and maybe some takeaways for my own life or perspective
As I review this book, Recurring Consequences, I want to share with you why this book HIT all those points for me. Interesting topic. Captivating character. And some intriguing ideas about how our past may shape our future.
I’m glad I took the time to read it, and I believe you will be, too.
I was a fan of Irie Parker’s first book, so I was looking forward to his new take on this topic.
The main character, Tyson, is in a wheel chair and quadriplegic. At the start of the book, he’s a rather unlikable character, and we get a glimpse into his everyday life and struggles. His life isn’t pretty. Or easy.
The book starts off with one particularly bad situation and it kept me on the edge of my seat while the main character, Tyson, continued to face challenging situations.
As the book progresses, we get to see Tyson begin to adapt and become a more balanced person while watching his approach and insights to the challenges that he faces.
The story unfolds as Tyson has encounters, visions, and psychic events that play into the overall theme. Do our past lives affect our current situations? What lessons are we meant to learn?
A few things I really LIKED about this book:
- being part of Tyson's daily challenges and witnessing his positive and continued drive to make the best of his situation.
- how Tyson sees and faces his situations and core emotions. As I read the book, I found myself changing my mind on how I would approach these situations if I was in similar circumstances.
- interesting twists and metaphysical visions that wrap up into a final message.
I think each one of us will have a different takeaway from the book, which makes it even better.
As Irie Parker continues to create, I see his writing grow. He weaves in new ways to think about the challenges, emotions, and situations his characters find themselves in. I’m looking forward to his next work.
With all these aspects, this a GOOD book in my mind, and I recommend that you give it try. His first novel, Twisted Consequences, is a different set of adventures and interesting as well – it’s a great read, too.

Recurring Consequences Change is on the way Irie Parker Books Reviews
You always hear "Don't judge a book by it's cover", I'm not judging, I'm simply in love with this tortured mermaid! So much I want her as a tattoo. That said, onto the book... I was asked what kind of a book is this? My answer of paranormal pop culture urban new age alienism sort of gets it? I enjoyed reading the story of Tyson and how he must struggle to evolve and reach the ultimate goal of this lifetime. He has a lot to work on, past life regressions give glimpses of a murderous history, how to deal with that and move on is the theme that conflicts with his adolescent womanizing tendencies. A quadriplegic posting for a driver to take him to appointments and other outings, he then eliminates all males and interviews only the young girls and uses them to chauffeur him (and whatever else he can get them to do). The idea of birthmarks being a remained scar from how one died in a past life is thought provoking (will I wonder about them when I see people with one now?) I like the possibilities. Not to give away the turbulent twists and turns that flow t hrough this tale I recommend you pick up this book and travel with Tyson.
P.S. I had totally forgotten about a black bun whopper until now. Lol.
I enjoyed catching up with Tyson after reading
TWISTED CONSEQUENCES! He doesn’t disappoint in this sequel! Throughout the story, he invites the reader to get inside his head, as he shares so much self-talk. If you are up for a “head-y”read, this book is for you!
Such a wonderful read. I was stuck in the book. Finished in to days only because of having a family and having to rip myself away from it. And then when I was reading it I kept thinking about it and what would happen next. Irie did a great job of having one understand Tyson and his situation. I didn't want it too end. And I am hoping for a continuance for this book.
